A Second Chance firmly believes that all people should manage their finances through a budget. Having lived without a budget, we know the shortfalls and hardships a person can face. That is why one of the founcations of the program is a balanced budget.
Throughout the program, participants will grow in responsibility as they take on more pieces of a real budget, until such time as their program budget mirrors the budget they will see upon graduation.
A Second Chance staff will teach and mentor the participants in creating and managing a balanced budget including balancing their checkbook. The participants will learn how to use Intuit Quicken for managing their checking account as well as how to manage it manually. Throughout the eight months, A Second Chance will hold the participants accountable to their budget.
